United Kingdom –India wins ‘Best Country’ at London Fashion Week’s International Showcase




It was a high for the Indian contingent of young designers who made up the IMG Reliance Fashion team at the London Fashion Week,where India was declared the winner of the“International Fashion Showcase Country Award”.  The award was announced by the British Council, British Fashion Council (BFC) and Mercedes-Benz at a prize-giving ceremony at Somerset House, London, beating 25 other nations judged by a panel of industry experts. The top award was presented by Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and Chief Critic Vogue Runway to the IMG Reliance Fashion team – Jaspreet Chandok, Gautam Vazirani, Nikhita Punja and Shruti Singh; the Designers – Alan Alexander Kaleekal, Karishma Shahani Khan, Priyanka Ella Lorena Lama, Ragini Ahuja, Ujjawal Dubey and exhibition designer Wasim Khan.

To celebrate India-UK Year of Culture 2017, IMG Reliance in partnership with 6Degree and supported by Etihad Airways and British Council presented ‘The Indian Pastoralists’ – a special sustainable fashion exhibition at the International Fashion Showcase(IFS). The five designers were selected based on their contemporary Indian aesthetic with a global appeal. Each of them created special looks that represent ‘The Indian Pastoralists’ theme conceived by IMG Reliance and aligned to the global theme of IFS this year, Local/Global. These designer’s creations drew inspiration from the multi-faceted ethnic lifestyles of India’s nomadic pastoral communities. Their collections interpret the deep heritage of Indian textiles and handlooms for a global audience...

Be prepared to be amazed and amused in the new frontiers of gustation. Evolving from the Parisian bistros which made waves in the mid-Nineties and served up the term Bistronomy, we can now savor the home grown improved versions where the ingredient is King, pure, original, authentic, organic, seasonal, local.

Am in Mumbai for the weekend, and the last evening is dedicated to checking out the new bride that is the talk of the town, Masque. Lakshmi mills, once the buzzing cotton mill district stands as a soundless compound with narrow unlit lanes. Lost inside its maze, gazing twists and turns and non-lit sign boards, we arrive at the unobtrusive Masque.The high ceiling gives a sense of largeness to the space; industrial lighting dimly reflects on the hall with rosewood furniture and leather seating. The modern opulent interiors by Mumbai based architect Ashish Shah have brilliantly created depth with a form of space and design. Adjacent to the bright and buzzing copper bar stands a finely carved monolith that works as a waiting table for those with no reservations. The installation by Rathin Barman stands out subtly signifying the long lost golden era of the mills...

India – India Design 2017 commences from 11-19 February

Celebrating its 5th yearthe week long India Design 2017, will commence from 11th to 19th February, with off-site activities across the design districts of the city, culminating with the main event at the NSIC Grounds, Okhla on the weekend of 16th-19th February 2017.

India’s Definitive Design Week is back again with showcases from best decor brands along with eminent speakers from India and abroad. The exhibition also helps create a new generation of creative and business-based talent factories that help fuel the design economy of the country. India Design ID recognises and celebrates designers and creativity from diverse disciplines in designing ­– from product to interiors, architecture to conservation and installation to lighting.

It comprises of three verticals –ID Exhibit, ID Symposium and ID Satellite. This collaboration will bring together the design community to share their experiences, knowledge and aesthetics through exhibitions, installations and discussions.

India – Gauri Khan unveils her Signature Collection of Tisva luminaires

Tisva Lighting studio, Mumbai unveiled their signature collection of Tisva luminaires that has been specially curated by Gauri Khan.
Tisva is a premium home decorative lighting brand from Usha International Limited. The launch was attended by renowned architects from all over India. Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017

The setting was surreal for Maria GraziaChiuri, the new creative director of Christian Dior, who showed her first Haute Couture collection for spring-summer 2017 in a tent set up on the lawns of the Musée Rodin in Paris.



A fake gardenmaze, with unkempt green grass pathways strewed with moss, a meandering ivy covered low wall with cushions for the viewers, a tree adorned with light bulbs, ribbons, pendants, sort of like out of a dream, as was envisioned by the designer, who was reported to have said, “I don’t want to lose the idea of dreaming,but I do want to make it possible for couture to be wearable. ”Chiuri is the first woman couturier of Dior and has moved to Paris from Rome, where she worked with Valentino for a substantial part of her career.
